To Be A Scout
1. A boy must have completed the fifth grade, or have earned
the Arrow of Light Award, or be 11 years of age, but not yet 18.
2. The following joining requirements must be completed (page
references are for The Official Boy Scout Handbook):
- Turn in to the scoutmaster a completed Boy Scout application
and health history signed by a parent or guardian.
- Repeat the Pledge of Allegiance (page 468).
- Demonstrate the Scout salute, sign, and handclasp (pages
132-133).
- Show how to tie the square knot (also know as the 'joining
knot')(page 132-133).
- Understand and agree to live by the Scout Oath, the Scout
Law, the Scout Motto, the Scout Slogan, and the Outdoor Code
(pages 5-9, 55).
- Describe the Scout Badge (page 565).
- With a parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the
pamphlet 'How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse and
Drug Abuse' (Front tear-out section of Boy Scout Handbook).
- Participate in a Scoutmaster Conference.
3. Turn in the following fees:

to Boys' Life Magazine
4. Turn in a Troop Resource Survey (one for each parent)
5. Turn in a Parent Auto Insurance information Form.
